Oscar rush begins in Bangladesh

Bangladeshi films have been invited to participate to compete in the category of Best Foreign Language film at the 90th Academy Award (Oscar). Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies (BFFS) has formed a nine-member Oscar Bangladesh Committee for selecting a Bangladeshi film to compete in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 90th Academy Award. Eminent film personality Habibur Rahman Khan has been made the chairman of the committee, while Robin Shams has been appointed the media coordinator.
The 90th Oscar Bangladesh Committee has called for submission of films, made in Bangla language by Bangladeshi filmmakers, and subtitled in English, like the previous year.  Films released after October 1, 2016 and screened at a theatre continuously for a week will be eligible to apply. To participate in the selection process, interested film producers are requested to collect forms and detailed rules of submission at Hasan Holding (9th floor), 52/1 New Eskaton, Dhaka by 5pm of September 20, 2017.
The 90th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will honor the best films of 2017 and will take place on March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. The ceremony was scheduled well after its usual late-February date to avoid conflicting with the 2018 Winter Olympics.
