Bella Thorne said she was molested

Bella Thorne is adding her voice to the chorus of women who have come forward with stories of sexual assault.

The 20-year-old “Famous in Love” star revealed Monday she was molested.

The star was prompted by a Twitter user who criticized a photo Thorne had posted by asking, “What did Disney do to this girl!?! I think she was molested.”

Thorne, in turn, responded by saying that the user’s sarcastic guess was spot-on.

“Yeah I was. So it wasn’t Disney,” she wrote. “The world can be a sick place sometimes :/”

The Florida native starred on the Disney Channel series “Shake It Up” from 2010 to 2013 alongside Zendaya.

Following her revelation, Thorne’s Twitter feed was quickly flooded with messages of support, including one from her boyfriend, rapper Mod Sun. She did not reveal when her assault took place or who was responsible.

Thorne is no stranger to sharing intimate details of her life with her more than 6 million social media followers.

Reese Witherspoon used her time at the podium during the ELLE Women In Hollywood Celebration on Oct. 16, 2017 to shed some light on being sexually assaulted by a director at age 16. "I've had multiple experiences of harassment and sexual assault, and I don't speak about them very often, but after hearing all the stories these past few days and hearing these brave women speak up tonight, the things that we're kind of told to sweep under the rug and not talk about, it's made me want to speak up and speak up loudly because I felt less alone this week than I've ever felt in my entire career.", she added.

Over the summer, she broke down her short-lived relationship with Scott Disick over Twitter, and in 2016, she used the platform to come out as bisexual.

She joins the score of women who have come forward in recent months with stories of sexual harassment, assault and rape as part of the #MeToo movement.
