BNP will form human chains across the country on Tuesday demanding its chairperson Khaleda Zia‘s release from jail.

As part of the programme, a human chain will be formed in front of the Jatiya Press Club.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the announcement at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office on Monday.

“We will form human chains across the country, including Dhaka, tomorrow (Tuesday) demanding unconditional release of our chairperson. Our central programme will be held in front of the Jatiya Press Club from 11:00 am to 12 noon”, he said.

The BNP leader said their party’s sit-in programme will be held in front of its Nayapaltan central office from 11:00am to 12noon on Thursday.

Rizvi said they have already informed police about their two programmes.

Earlier on Sunday, the party announced a two-day countrywide fresh programme including formation of human chain in the capital.

BNP’s last programme was countrywide leaflet distribution on March 1 demanding Khaleda’s release.

After the jailing of Khaleda, the party observed different peaceful programmes, including leaflet distribution, countrywide demonstration, human-chain formation, sit-in, token hunger-strike, protest procession in five phases, demanding her release.

On February 8, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
