ACC probing graft charges against 2 ex-BNP MPs, AL MP


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started to look into alleged corruption against a ruling party member of parliament (MP) and two former MPs of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), according to ACC officials.

The anti-graft body launched the investigation after receiving multiples allegations of corruptions including drug trade against the three MPs.

The ACC officials said the commission decided to investigate the allegations on 7 March.

The ruling party MP of Khulna-2 constituency, Mizanur Rahman, has been accused of drug trading and grabbing contract works of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and other government offices there.

According to ACC, Mizanur Rahman embezzled money doing nominal work of the contracted works.

An allegation of gathering assets worth Tk 5 billion out of known sources has been raised against former BNP’s MP Ruhul Quddus Dulu.

The MP from the Northern district of Natore reportedly earned the money from drug trade, tender manipulations and collecting tolls from the businessmen.

Allegations of tender manipulations and collecting tolls from the businessmen were also raised against former Lalmonirhat MP Asadul Habib Dulu.
