The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha or RAJUK, has demolished parts of Ha-Meem Group owner AK Azad’s Gulshan house built without following any approved design.

RAJUK, the capital development authority, started the raid at 9am Tuesday suspending traffic between the north end of Road 86 and Road 84 and between Road 87 and Road 86.

Azad’s house stands on Road No. 86.

RAJUK Director Aliur Rahman, who led the raid, said: “The house was built without following any approved design. The structural design that they showed was not approved by RAJUK.”

RAJUK men demolished a boundary wall, a car parking space and parts of a balcony in the raid that continued until 11:30am.

When asked if the whole house will be knocked down, the RAJUK director said: “It should be if we go by the rules.”

Azad, also former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, was seen talking to RAJUK officials on the scene but he did not speak to reporters.

When asked to disclose the details of the matter, Rahman said: “Let us finish the work first. We will brief you then.”

Azad is the owner and publisher of Bangla-language newspaper Samakal. bdnews24.com could not immediately get his comment on the raid.
