BCL leader succumbs to wounds in Pabna attack


Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Sadrul Alam Pintu has succumbed to his wounds suffered in an attack in Pabna’s Iswardi upazila.

Sadrul, 32, was the president of the Pakshi Union BCL.

He passed away at 7am on Monday at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said Ishwardi Police OC Azimuddin.

Locals have blocked the Kushtia-Ishwardi Highway since 10am after the news of his death spread.

Sadrul was at the Rupapur intersection of the Upazila around 9am on Sunday when he was attacked by a group of men with sharp weapons and firearms.

Locals rushed him to the Ishwardi Upazila Medical Complex in critical condition.

He was transferred to Rajshahi when his condition worsened, OC Azimuddin said.

“We have not yet established a motive for the murder but are investigating the matter.”
